JAPAN HOUSE Webinar: MA in Contemporary Cuisine

Join JAPAN HOUSE for Webinar #3 of the Rethinking of MA Webinar Series:

MA in Contemporary Japanese Cuisine

“MA” is a key concept in Japanese philosophy and culture that translates roughly to “space,” but it has many meanings, including the pause in sound or speech or structure that gives meaning to the whole. JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles presents a virtual event series about the meanings of “MA” across disciplines, from previous sessions on art and architecture (both available to view online), and the latest examining “MA” in contemporary Japanese cuisine. Featuring guest Prairie Stuart-Wolff, (creator of www.cultivateddays.co) and moderated by professors Hitoshi Abe and Ken Tadashi Oshima, the conversation will discuss the importance of “MA” in Japanese cuisine, from the choice of ingredients to the rituals of the table.
